Aston Villa’s new signing, Jadon Sancho, has revealed that manager Unai Emery and close friend Marcus Rashford played crucial roles in convincing him to join the club this summer.
Sancho completed a season-long loan move from Manchester United to Villa on transfer deadline day, bolstering Emery’s attacking options for the campaign.
Speaking to VillaTV after his unveiling, the former Manchester United winger expressed his excitement about the move and explained how Emery’s vision and Rashford’s encouragement swayed his decision.
“When I spoke to Unai Emery, he really persuaded me. I cannot wait to work under him,” Sancho said.
He further disclosed that he had spoken to Rashford, who spent time at Villa last season, about life at the club.
“Marcus told me so many positive things about Aston Villa — that it feels like a family, with a warm environment and great players and staff. That made my decision easier,” Sancho added.
Sancho is expected to make his debut for Aston Villa after the international break as the club continues its push for a strong Premier League campaign.
