Transfer: Arsenal, Liverpool Confirm Loan Moves for Kabia and McConnell

Arsenal and Liverpool have confirmed loan moves for two of their young talents, Ismeal Kabia and James McConnell, ahead of Sunday’s Premier League clash at Anfield.

Arsenal announced on Friday that 19-year-old Kabia has joined League Two side Shrewsbury Town on a season-long loan. The versatile winger, who joined the Gunners’ academy in 2017, recently signed his second professional contract with the club.

Kabia was named on the bench 13 times in both the Premier League and Champions League last season and made his first-team debut in a 5-1 Carabao Cup win over Bolton Wanderers at the Emirates Stadium.

Liverpool, meanwhile, confirmed that 20-year-old midfielder James McConnell has joined Dutch giants Ajax on loan for the remainder of the 2025/26 season, shortly after extending his contract with the Reds.

McConnell, who arrived at Liverpool from Sunderland at U15 level, has progressed through the academy ranks and made 13 senior appearances to date. He is set to continue his development under Ajax manager John Heitinga, a former Liverpool coach.
