Lucas Vázquez Completes Bayer Leverkusen Move After Secret Medical

Former Real Madrid right-back, Lucas Vázquez, is set to join Bundesliga champions Bayer Leverkusen on a free transfer.

Sources confirm that the 33-year-old has already completed his medical in secret, with the official signing scheduled for Tuesday. The move comes after Vázquez ended his long association with Real Madrid, where his contract expired at the close of last season.

Vázquez, who rose through the ranks of Los Blancos’ academy, enjoyed an illustrious spell in Madrid. Since making his senior debut in 2015, he made over 325 appearances for the club, contributing to one of the most successful periods in their history. During his time at the Santiago Bernabéu, he won three UEFA Champions League titles, three La Liga titles, three Spanish Super Cups, and four FIFA Club World Cups, among other honors.

Though naturally a winger, Vázquez became renowned for his versatility, often excelling as a right-back in his later years. His adaptability, work rate, and experience at the top level made him a valuable figure in Carlo Ancelotti’s squad until his departure.

The signing represents a significant coup for Bayer Leverkusen, bringing in a seasoned professional with a wealth of European pedigree and a winning mentality.
