Nigeria will host Rwanda in a crucial 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier on Saturday evening, as the Super Eagles fight to keep their qualification hopes alive.
Results from Friday in Group C saw South Africa strengthen their grip on the top spot. Goals from Mohau Nkota, Lyle Foster, and Oswin Appollis secured Bafana Bafana a vital win, taking their tally to 16 points after seven matches. They now sit five points clear of second-placed Benin Republic, who have 11 points. Rwanda follow closely with eight points, while Nigeria are fourth with just seven.
The clash against Rwanda at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo, is a must-win for Eric Chelle’s men, whose qualification dreams are slipping away.
Captain William Troost-Ekong is expected to partner Calvin Bassey in central defence, while Ademola Lookman could feature in attack despite limited game time this season. However, Nigeria will be without Victor Boniface, Umar Sadiq, and Taiwo Awoniyi, who are all absent from the squad.
