Transfer: Tottenham set to hijack Chelsea’s move for Xavi Simons

Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly set to hijack Chelsea’s pursuit of Xavi Simons from RB Leipzig.

According to BILD, the 22-year-old midfielder has arrived in London for transfer talks. Simons, who is valued at around £60 million, was one of Chelsea’s early summer targets, but the Blues now risk losing him to their city rivals.

RB Leipzig officials confirmed that the Dutch international has been “released until further notice for future discussions,” paving the way for negotiations.

Although Tottenham have not yet tabled an official bid, the club has already held initial discussions with Leipzig regarding a potential deal.

Spurs manager Thomas Frank is said to be pushing for the move as he looks to strengthen his midfield options, with James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski sidelined by long-term injuries.
