Spanish giants Real Madrid have reportedly joined the race to sign Manchester United midfielder Kobbie Mainoo.
According to the Daily Mail, Los Blancos are closely monitoring the 20-year-old’s situation at Old Trafford, with city rivals Atletico Madrid also expressing interest in the England international.
Mainoo, who has found game time hard to come by this season, was an unused substitute in United’s opening two Premier League fixtures against Arsenal and Fulham. With the transfer window set to close next week, the youngster could consider a move in search of regular minutes.
Meanwhile, in a separate development, Real Madrid winger Rodrygo has instructed his representatives to explore options for a possible transfer this summer.
As reported by The Athletic, the Brazilian forward has asked agents Pini Zahavi and Kia Joorabchian to find him a new club. The 24-year-old has been linked with Premier League sides Arsenal, Manchester City and Liverpool throughout the window.
Rodrygo’s frustrations appear to be mounting after being left out of Brazil’s squad for their upcoming World Cup qualifiers against Bolivia and Chile, with concerns over his fitness cited as a factor. He has yet to complete a full 90 minutes under new Madrid manager Xabi Alonso this season.
