FC Porto have reached an agreement with Arsenal to sign defender Jakub Kiwior in a deal worth €25m guaranteed, rising to €27m. The move is structured as a loan with an obligation to buy, and personal terms with the 25-year-old are already settled.
However, the transfer will only go through once Arsenal secure a replacement. The Gunners are in advanced talks with Bayer Leverkusen over Piero Hincapié, with negotiations centering on either a loan-to-buy deal or a fee close to the Ecuadorian’s £52–€60m release clause.
Kiwior has given Porto the green light and is awaiting permission to fly out for medicals. His versatility able to play centre-back and left-back makes him an ideal fit for Sérgio Conceição’s side.
For Arsenal, the deal provides a financial boost after heavy summer spending, while Hincapié would preserve the squad’s balance on the left side of defense.
All that remains is the Gunners’ green light once Hincapié signs, Kiwior’s move to the Estádio do Dragão will be completed.
